Functionality
The Givex app allows Commerce7 stores to connect Givex to their system, enabling the transfer of funds between Givex and C7 gift cards, both ways. Users can also check the balance of their physical Givex cards, making it easy to manage gift card balances and transactions.
Installing Givex
To get started, navigate to the app store in your Commerce7 admin panel and click on the Givex app.
Next, install your application. Once installed, the application will appear in your Store Menu page from your admin panel.
Settings
Before you start using the Givex app, you must configure your User ID and Password in the app’s General Settings.
On your admin panel, click on Store, scroll down until you see the Givex option, and click on it.
Inside the Givex app, you’ll be able to see the main menu just under the App by Treefrog Digital subtitle. Click on Settings, then click on General.
Under application mode select between staging or production. Then under User ID and Password, type in or paste your Givex credentials then click on Save.
Getting to Know the Givex App
With the Givex integration, you can check the balance of a gift card, add a physical Givex card to Commerce7, view gift card transactions between Givex and Commerce7, and transfer gift cards both from Commerce7 to Givex and vice versa.
You can find all of these options in the Givex Dashboard. The Dashboard is the first thing you’ll see inside the Givex App.
Let’s go into detail on how each option works.
How to Check the balance of a Givex Gift Card
From the Givex Dashboard click on Gift Card Balance.
Checking the balance of a gift card is as simple as entering the gift card number and the Givex PIN, and then clicking on "Check Balance"
How to Add a Givex Gift Card to C7
To add a Givex Gift Card to C7 from the Givex Dashboard click on Add Givex Card. Type in the Givex Card Number and Givex Pin, then click on Continue.
You’ll be prompted to assign a customer to the gift card. You can start typing the customer's name in the field to search for them.
Keep in mind that by registering a customer, only the assigned customer will be able to use the gift card. If you want anyone to be able to use the gift card, then you should leave the field blank.
Once you’re done click continue.
You will then be prompted to enter the amount you want to transfer to a Commerce7 gift card. Type in the amount and click on Transfer Funds.
Once the funds have been transferred, you’ll see a confirmation for the transaction, the amount added or transferred, and the Commerce7 Gift Card ID.
How to Transfer a Givex Gift Card
To transfer a Gift Card to Givex from the Givex Dashboard click on Transfer Gift Card to Givex. Type in the Givex Card Number and Givex Pin, then click on Continue.
First, search for the gift card number you want to transfer. If you don’t know the gift card number, you can search by customer, and the gift cards assigned to them will also appear.
Once you have selected a gift card you’ll need to type in the Givex Gift Card Number, Pin, and the Amount to Transfer. Then click on Trasnfer Funds.
How to view Gift Card Transactions
If you need to review any of the transactions made from and to Givex, from the Dashboard click on Gift Card Transactions.
Here you’ll see a list of all the transactions made on the Givex app, you’ll see the date of the transactions, the gift card involve, the type of transaction, amount, if the transaction was successful as well as the user who performed the transaction.
Givex functions in Commerce7 POS
You will also be able to access Givex transactions options from within Commerce7 POS.
From the cart click on the arrow located beside the guest or customer name, this will open up the more action menu. Here you’ll see the Transfer to Givex, Check Givex Balance and Add Givex Card options.
These work the same as the options in the admin panel. If you have questions about using any of these functions, please refer to the respective section in this documentation. The steps to follow are similar.
